Our smallholders are not just beneficiaries, but stakeholders in a system designed to grow with them. As the project grows, so does the community, proving that true empowerment builds a future that funds itself.

We work closely with smallholder farmers to help them grow better crops, access fair markets, and earn more money. We support community-owned and managed farming value chains. Our method ensures that farmers gain lasting and real empowerment, not just temporary help.

COW Value Addition

Income-Driven Sustainability

This shift allows the community to generate its own income, moving away from donor dependency and relying on the strength of its own production. The generated income is reinvested into training, equipment upgrades, community outreach, and planting cycles, making the initiative self-reinforcing and resilient. By shifting the narrative from subsistence to sustainability, we help smallholders become not just producers, but drivers of economic growth in their communities.

The COW Peanut Initiative is founded on the belief that farming can be transformed from a survival strategy into a sustainable source of income, dignity, and independence. Empowerment extends beyond the farm. Smallholder farmers receive training in post-harvest handling, produce processing, packaging, and branding, enabling them to earn more through value-added products.

Beyond cultivation, our initiative offers services for roasting, shelling, processing, packaging, and branding peanut butter, adding significant value and income potential. Farmers are also trained in quality control and food safety to meet market standards. By transforming agricultural harvests into value-added products, smallholder farmers in Homabay are no longer limited to seasonal sales at local open markets. They are becoming entrepreneurs, job creators, and role models.
